Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn. Bhd (CTRM) was incorporated in November 1990 by Minister of Finance Malaysia Inc. in response to the government having the vision for the advanced composite industry, thus giving CTRM the mandate to spearhead Malaysia’s foray into the aerospace and composite manufacturing. CTRM Sdn Bhd focuses on three main areas: aerospace, composites and engineering.
According to Azmi, Tooling / Assistance Technician, there is a wide application besides verifying the tooling they are currently using. We can also use Faro Laser Tracker to calibrate toolings, Jigs, our CNC machines and most importantly to assemble our tools.
Currently our layout machine is unable to check profile, slots and unable to reach to the other side of the tooling. Moreover, the layout machine is always occupied with parts and the waiting time is too long. With the use of Faro Laser Tracker, we can perform measurements with one go without requiring flipping to the other side of tooling. Faro Laser Tracker also produce better accuracy and consistency.

Samson was doing his industrial attachment with CTRM when CTRM decided to purchase Faro Laser Tracker. He picked up the usage and application of Laser Tracker so fast that CTRM decided to extend his contract for another two months with full month’s pay to come back and work on Faro Laser Tracker.
