연혁

1981

Simon Raab and Greg Fraser found the Res-Tech company in Montreal, Canada. Two years later, they change the name to FARO. They begin developing technologies, including software, for complex operations and diagnosis procedures.

1984

FARO introduces its first device with hinged arm measurement technology. Other models follow the GENUCOM. Sales of Metrecom start in 1987 and sales of Surgicom start in 1988.

1990

FARO moves from Quebec, Canada to Florida, USA.

1991

Raab and Fraser recognize parallels between medical 3D diagnosis and processes in component construction with the aid of CAD (Computer Aided Design) in the manufacturing industry. FARO takes a new direction with 3D measurements in manufacturing, which is completed in 1994.

1995

FARO introduces the FaroArm, an articulating measurement arm for the industrial market.

1996

FARO expands into the European market.

1997

FARO goes public on the American NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol FARO.

FARO introduces the FaroArm Bronze and the FaroArm Silver.

1998

FARO acquires the software company CATS, allowing them to make significant improvements to FARO AnthroCAM software (precursor of FARO CAM2 Measure software).

European headquarters are established in Germany.

FARO introduces the FaroArm Gold.

2000

FARO expands into the Asian market.

2002

FARO introduces the FaroArm Platinum (which later becomes the world’s best-selling measurement arm) and the FaroArm Titanium.

FARO acquires Spatial Metrix (SMX), allowing for expansion into high accuracy, large volume measurement applications with the FARO Laser Tracker Si.

FARO introduces the FARO Gage, a highly accurate, lower cost articulating arm for machine shops.

2004

FARO introduces the Laser Tracker X and Xi, featuring XtremeADM technology.

2005

FARO acquires iQvolution and iQsun and their phase shift laser technology, allowing for expansion into markets such as architecture, forensics, and surveying with the FARO Laser Scanner LS.

Asian headquarters are established in Singapore.

2006

Jay Freeland becomes President and CEO of FARO.

2007

FARO introduces the FaroArm Quantum and FaroArm Fusion.

2008

FARO is named to Forbes’ list of America’s 25 fastest-growing tech companies.

FARO introduces the Laser Scanner Photon.

FARO acquires global technology rights from Dimensional Photonics International.

2009

FARO introduces the world’s most accurate large volume laser tracker – the FARO Laser Tracker ION.

2010

FARO introduces a high performance non-contact 3D imaging system – the FARO 3D Imager AMP.

FARO introduces the world’s smallest, lightest, and most affordable 3D laser scanner – the FARO Focus3D.

2011

FARO introduces the world’s most innovative measurement arm – the FARO Edge.

FARO introduces new CAM2 Measure 10 software for the FaroArm, FARO ScanArm, and FARO Laser Tracker.

FARO Focus3D is named as a best new innovation by Popular Science magazine.

2012

FARO introduces a high-accuracy, contact-only measurement arm – the FARO Prime.

FARO introduces their smallest, lightest, and longest range laser tracker – the FARO Vantage.

2013

FARO introduces an extended range laser scanner – FARO Focus3D X 330.

FARO introduces a hosting solution for secure scan data sharing – the SCENE WebShare Cloud.

FARO has been announced as one of the “op 100 Fastest-Growing Companies” by the Management Magazine Fortune.

2014

FARO introduces the most advanced FARO Laser Line Probe (ScanArm HD) with a 560,000 points/second capture rate, very high accuracy, a new blue laser technology for high-definition data resolution.

FARO acquires The CAD Zone, Inc.

2015

FARO launches the Freestyle3D Handheld Laser Scanner with a scan range from 1.6ft to 9.8ft and up to 88,000 points/second capture rate. The Freestyle allows close-proximity scanning and flexibility in tight corners and smaller areas while still delivering high accuracy and definition.

FARO acquires ARAS 360 Technologies, Inc.

Opens new Exton, Pennsylvania site to expand and modernize manufacturing process.

Expands presence in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) with acquisition of kubit.

2016

Introduces smart 3D imager arrays – a new class of automated metrology sensor provides sophisticated in-process measurement.

Launches Early Adopter (EA) program to provide customers with early access to new innovative products before they become broadly available.

Expands presence in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) with acquisition of kubit

Disrupts in-process guided assembly and verification with the introduction of a new class of LIDAR with High Speed Imaging (HSI) technology

Launches the FocusS Laser Scanner with IP54 Rating and in-field compensation

Opens new Brisbane, Australia office to increase footprint in Asia Pacific.

2017

Launches new FARO® FocusM 70 Laser Scanner – setting a new entry price/performance standard.

Launches FARO® Vantage Laser Tracker product line – setting a new standard for portability, mobile device control, ruggedness, and value.

FARO has become the world’s most trusted source for 3D measurement, imaging and realization technology, and continues on its path of innovation and helping their customers’ products and processes be the best in the world.
