Machined parts come in a diverse range of shapes and sizes, and flexible 3D metrology tools for part inspection and dimensional analysis are required to verify their accuracy and quality.

Many machine shops are now equipped with portable CMMs from FARO®, such as measuring arms and laser trackers. These meet a variety of dimensional measurement needs, such as on-machine and in-process inspection, and CAD comparison to ensure proper tolerances are achieved.

Unitech Composites Produces More Parts with Same Staff by Using FaroArm to Streamline Inspection

“The traditional method works, but it’s slow and not very accurate. The FaroArm offers accuracy comparable to fixed CMMs and software that is fully programmable for repetitive measurement so it greatly increases both the speed and accuracy of the inspection process. The result is that we are able to get more parts out the door with the same people while maintaining higher standards of quality.”

FARO Provides Total Measurement Solution for Large Machine Manufacturer

Tuftco Corporation, an OEM of carpet tufting equipment, has seen an improvement in their alignment by 80% after implementing FARO solutions. Measurements taken using the FARO Laser Tracker, FaroArm® and FARO Gage have also led them to discoveries about their current processes.

Express Manufacturing Gains Full ROI with the FARO Gage

Express Manufacturing did a trial program called the FARO Technology Test Drive which enabled them to evaluate the equipment in the “real world” situation of their own shop floor. With a minimal investment and no risk, they were able to test the Gage and prove out its ROI before purchase.

Hoosier Tank Ensures Efficiency and Growth with the FARO Gage

The accuracy of the FARO Gage allowed Hoosier to decrease their assembly fixture construction time by eliminating several reworks that needed to verify that tanks met specification. The Gage also ensured a PPAP dimensional layout to 4 decimal points with an R&R of 10%. The Gage also allowed Hoosier to conduct an accurate and time saving sampling plan for monitoring dimensions to accurately ensure on-going dimensional success.
