FARO INSIGHT Introduces New Reality Capture Solutions

Korntal-Münchingen, Germany, September 15, 2026—FARO INSIGHT, a business unit of AMETEK, Inc., introduces Focus i.1 and Focus i.1 X terrestrial laser scanners and the Rovi i.1 reality capture package to its solution lineup. The portfolio updates will be showcased this week at INTERGEO in Munich and Autodesk University in Las Vegas.

The Focus i.1 and i.1 X expand the company’s terrestrial laser scanner portfolio, supporting professionals who rely on accurate spatial data to document, measure, and understand real-world environments. They combine enhanced hardware, improved measurement performance with object accuracy up to 0.9 mm, faster colorized scanning, and advanced positioning technologies.

Designed for AECO, geospatial, public safety, and related applications, the scanners introduce a range of updates focused on reality capture and field productivity. For outdoor and geospatial applications, Focus i.1 X includes a GNSS/RTK mountable receiver and a 400-meter scanning range, helping users georeference data and streamline workflows.

“Reality capture projects are often a balance between speed, accuracy, and ease of use throughout the scanning process," said Dietmar Wennemer, Business Unit Manager at FARO INSIGHT. "What stands out about the new Focus scanners is how they address all three. The improvements reflect feedback from users who wanted faster workflows, more confidence in their data, and tools that are easier to integrate into the way they already work."

Focus continues to support cloud-based collaboration in the FARO Sphere® XG digital reality platform, plus advanced processing and AI data cleaning in SCENE, through a new subscription model, expanding access to connected workflows and allowing organizations to scale their reality capture capabilities over time.

In partnership with Manifold Tech limited, a 3D spatial intelligence technology company, FARO INSIGHT is also introducing Rovi i.1. The new reality capture solution is designed to bring digital reality to a wider audience through an accessible package of both capture device and software subscription. The workflow connects data capture with the mobile scanner, processing in FARO Sphere XG, and project insights using SCENE, in an easy-to-use affordable solution.

“Our customers have expressed the need for a complete workflow that connects hardware and software and can adapt to the way they operate, more than a standalone capture device,” said Tobias Böhret, Director, Product Solutions at FARO INSIGHT. “Rovi i.1 brings these elements together in a complete package, supporting the customer journey from everyday capture to actionable reality data.”

Alongside the scanner launches, FARO INSIGHT announces various developments that further connect reality capture with processing and downstream workflows. Among them is SCENE 2027, a major update to FARO INSIGHT's desktop processing software, which will reduce project point cloud generation time on large projects from hours to minutes. The release will also introduce an AI-based filter designed to remove glass and mirror reflections.

Among the other developments announced include a new cloud-to-cloud workflow with Flyability’s Inspector Online, which will use FARO SLAM technology to process data captured by Elios 3 drones in confined and hard-to-reach spaces. The workflow will allow point cloud data to move directly between Inspector Online and the FARO platform.

Forthcoming additions to Sphere XG will extend these connected workflows into project deliverables. Integrated Projects, or IPX, a scan-to-BIM service, will allow customers to order as-built BIM models created from captured point clouds without leaving the platform. Extending this connectivity further, an integration with Qbitec, expected later in 2026, will enable Sphere XG data to move into additional project workflows.

“The future of reality capture is not defined by capture alone, but by how effectively data becomes trusted insight,” Wennemer concludes. “Our aim at FARO INSIGHT is to deliver complete reality capture solutions that connect hardware, software, and human collaboration, ultimately helping customers move confidently from the physical world to informed decisions at the earliest.”
