Maintaining a clear understanding of site conditions is essential for keeping projects moving with confidence. As projects evolve, frequent reality capture helps teams verify progress, maintain visibility, and compare work against design intent.
Rovi i.1 is a reality capture package designed to make site documentation easier throughout the project lifecycle. Combined with processing and analysis tools available through FARO Sphere® XG and SCENE, it helps teams turn captured site data into reliable project insights that support informed decision-making.

Plans that Scale with the Work
Plans differ by how much you store, how many people can access the data, and how much processing capacity is available to support your reality capture requirements. The following 3 tiers will help you understand which plan is better suited to your ongoing project requirements.
Expand Capabilities with the Optional Accessory Pack
Expand Rovi i.1 with an optional accessory pack designed for projects that require georeferenced data and enhanced visual documentation. Add capabilities that provide additional location context, panoramic imagery, and detailed visual records alongside reality capture data.
Optional Accessory Pack Includes:
- RTK/GNSS Unit: Add georeferencing capabilities to captured data, making it possible to position reality capture information within real-world coordinates.
- HighRes Pano Cam: Capture panoramic imagery that provides additional visual context and supports 360° image navigation alongside reality capture data.
- Close-up Camera: Capture detailed imagery for documentation, inspection, and field annotation workflows.
- Monopod: Mount the scanner on a monopod for an enhanced capture experience.

Public Safety Analytics
Maintain an accurate record of project conditions from planning through delivery. With point cloud generation at 200,000 points per second, Rovi i.1 helps teams deliver quality data for RFQ, compare site conditions against BIM , verify work in progress, and proactively identify issues to support more informed project decisions.
Create georeferenced digital records with point cloud accuracy of ≤1 cm using the optional GNSS accessory. Capture, verify, and deliver reliable site data, supporting workflows such as RFQs with confidence in both the location and context of captured information.
Document scenes quickly and create a reliable digital record before conditions change. With faster point cloud generation, Rovi i.1 helps first responders capture critical site information efficiently and preserve it for reporting, review, and investigative workflows.

What is included?
The Rovi i.1 Reality Capture Package includes the Rovi i.1 mobile walk-and-scan device, charging cable, carry case, cleaning kit, quick start guide, and access to FARO Sphere XG and SCENE. The optional accessory pack, which adds GNSS positioning, panoramic imagery, close-up photography, and a Monopod Holder, is purchased separately and does not ship with the base package.
-
Do I own the device?
Yes. The purchase of Rovi i.1 comes with a choice of 3 software subscriptions, with a minimum term of 3 years. These include Scan Essential, Scan Professional, and Scan Enterprise. Once the package is purchased, you own the device and can renew the software package once the 3-year minimum term expires. In addition, once the Rovi is purchased as a reality capture package, you may purchase additional FARO INSIGHT hardware (including Rovi i.1) which will be compatible with your software subscription. Any purchased hardware is your own.
-
Does Rovi i.1 use SLAM?
Yes. Rovi i.1 uses a Hybrid SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology approach with Visual and LiDAR to support walk-and-scan reality capture. This enables users to capture current site conditions and create point cloud data without requiring specialist reality capture expertise.
-
What can Rovi i.1 be used for?
Rovi i.1 supports a range of reality capture workflows, from generating measurements for RFQs and quotes to progress tracking, facility documentation, insurance assessments, and simple infrastructure documentation. By creating measurable records of real-world conditions, it helps teams document sites, verify progress, track asset and property conditions, and access the information needed to support planning and decision-making.
-
How accurate is Rovi i.1?
Accuracy depends on what your deliverable needs to support. The right question is the tolerance the job requires, then validating captured data against control points and reporting project-specific results. If your work requires survey-grade tolerances, Focus terrestrial laser scanner and Orbis mobile laser scanner are the more appropriate solutions.
-
How is this different from the Blink Imaging Laser Scanner?
Blink leads with imagery. It answers what a space looks like through immersive visual documentation. Rovi i.1 leads with geometry. It answers what a space measures through point cloud data and measurable project records. If the deliverable is visual context, Blink is the right choice. If the deliverable is a measurable record that will be verified or modeled against, that is where Rovi i.1 is designed to help.
-
Do I need specialized expertise to use Rovi i.1?
No. Rovi i.1 is designed to make reality capture practical for everyday project work. Walk-and-scan workflows help users capture site conditions and create point cloud data without specialist reality capture expertise.
-
Can I review captured data while still on site?
Yes. Real-time preview capabilities help users verify coverage and identify missed areas before leaving the site, reducing the likelihood of return visits.

How does FARO Sphere XG and SCENE work with Rovi i.1?
Captured data can be uploaded to FARO Sphere XG, where teams can manage reality capture data and access the information needed to support collaboration, project visibility, planning, and decision-making. Synced with SCENE, you can work between the 2 software solutions combining basic analysis and collaboration with deeper analysis and clearer insights.
