When Goss looked for something faster, simpler, and more comprehensive to help with alignment, they found the FARO Laser Tracker. Once the instrument is positioned so that the monument points of the press are within the Tracker’s line-of-sight, an operator walks the target from one monument point to the next. It records each point in software, building a three-dimensional image of the machine layout. The optical transit method required two people and 10 days to complete. With the FARO Laser Tracker, it took about three to five days with only one person.
