Major Tool was using three large fixed-base CMMs, various hand gages and numerous build fixtures. One of the biggest obstacles they faced was that many of the parts were too large to fit their stationary CMMs. They also needed to evaluate parts with unusual geometries that were best described using a 3-D model. The FARO Laser Tracker allows Major Tool to easily evaluate parts with unusual geometries as well as cut the waste of large-part transportation.
