FARO makes VR accessible to enhance courtroom presentations, training operations, and pre-incident plans

FARO® (NASDAQ: FARO), the world’s most trusted source for 3D measurement and imaging solutions for public safety and forensics announces through partnering with present4D, a new way to bring the world of Virtual Reality (VR) into the hands of public safety personnel, educators, and security professionals.

Virtual reality, once reserved for video gamers or costly high-tech simulation training, is now accessible to public safety professionals with the introduction of present4D software, powered by FARO. Now any crime, crash, fire scene, or building can be documented and turned into a realistic VR environment.

  • Instructors can create VR-ready training scenarios from real crime, crash, or fire scenes
  • Investigators can now organize and share all presentation materials in an immersive environment for court or their team
  • Pre-Incident Planners can document buildings and give walkthroughs as if being there

The present4D software can be used with FARO solutions in two main methods:

  • Method 1: Use the FARO Focus Laser Scanner to capture the scene in 3D, open it in FARO Zone 3D Advanced to diagram and analyze the scene, add documents and viewpoints and export to present4D to experience it in VR
  • Method 2: Use the FARO ScanPlan to map a building while walking, capture 360° images with a panoramic camera, and simply export to present4D to view the building and teleport from location to location.

Data captured at the scene with a FARO Laser Scanner or FARO ScanPlan along with diagrams and analysis performed in FARO Zone software, can all be combined to create an impressive VR environment in present4D that will enhance investigation, training program or pre-incident planning.”

Sample VR presentations are available now for your mobile device by visiting the FARO Insights Center and downloading the present4D on your preferred device.
