Since 2014, the company has provided mobile tunnel scanning services to metro operators across China thanks to their purchase of a FARO® Focus Laser Scanner which is Capable of creating accurate, complete and photorealistic 3D images of any environment or object in a matter of minutes, along with their own custom solution.
The team at SRIBS came up with a 2-man operated handcart that integrated the Focus Scanner on board. This was further refined and modified into a powered cart that can be operated by a single person.
The comprehensive solution comprises FARO’s hardware, which captures as-built documentation in point cloud data. This information is then processed in FARO SCENE Software and combined with field scan control data before scan results are returned.
With this mobile laser scanning solution, capable of as-built capture and modeling, SRIBS can easily and quickly scan and produce critical information such as shield tunnel radial convergence values, apparent tunnel damage, tunnel segment rotation and misalignment, and full-section deformation analysis. Additionally, the digitalized data can be made available on the cloud, allowing team members to work anywhere and make collaborative decisions quickly — whether in the field or in the office, leading to a quadrupling in productivity.
