RoHS and WEEE Statement

Environmental Position

Commitment to RoHS and WEEE Requirements

FARO is committed to meeting all requirements of the European Union’s (EU) WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directives. These directives require strategies for waste management and product design for the environment for electrical and electronic equipment sold into EU countries.

Compliance Statements

FARO is committed to meeting all requirements of the WEEE directive (2002/96/EC). The WEEE directive requires that manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment who sell into EU countries: (1) label their equipment to notify customers that it needs to be recycled, and (2) ensure that their products are appropriately disposed of or recycled at the end of their lifespan. For collection and return of FARO products, please contact your local FARO representative or distribution partner.

FARO also is committed to meeting or exceeding the requirements of the RoHS directive (2002/95/EC). The RoHS directive requires that manufacturers eliminate or minimize the use of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU after July 1, 2006.

Labelling and Disposal Information

The symbol - crossed-out trash can - indicates that the devices marked with this symbol may not be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste, but must be collected separately.

According to §19 ElektroG3 we offer a possibility to hand over old devices for professional disposal. FARO bears the costs of disposal. In accordance with §19a ElektroG3, we draw the attention of end users to their own responsibility with regard to the deletion of personal data on the old devices to be disposed of.

The customer bears the costs of the return to FARO Europe GmbH, Korntal-Münchingen, Germany. We allow our end customers as well as distributors in Germany to return units, which were bought from FARO, for disposal. In this case our customer/distributor can/should contact our hotline. This will take up the process. The units will be sent to FARO Europe GmbH, Korntal-Münchingen, Germany for disposal.
