The FARO® As-BuiltTM platform delivers innovative and profitable tools for complete and efficient conversion of reality capture data into parametric models. The As-Built Modeler Software is offered with optional plugins for Autodesk® Revit® and AutoCAD® Software. These powerful plugins integrate seamless into the AutoCAD or Revit interface and provide industry specific tools for Scan-to-CAD and Scan-to-BIM workflows. A direct evaluation of point clouds inside Revit or AutoCAD and further industry versions like AutoCAD Plant 3D or AutoCAD Civil 3D ensures a 100% compatibility of the extracted model with the CAD or BIM system.

As-Built Modeler with AutoCAD Software Plugin: Versatile Reality to CAD Solutions

FARO As-Built for AutoCAD Software offers all the functionality that AEC professionals need to evaluate 3D laser scanner data directly in AutoCAD. This software extends AutoCAD tooling for point cloud modeling and analysis, photogrammetry processing, total station control and data evaluation captured from a variety of mapping systems and laser scanners. Results of the evaluation are native AutoCAD files and object structures without any limitations in compatibility. A high level of automation efficiently creates 2D plans and 3D models e.g. for BIM purposes. Industry-specific functions enable users to create deliverables customized to clients’ needs, company constraints and stakeholder specifications. Numerous export options and analytical tools, such as deviation analysis, ensures that the required CAD deliverables meet client expectations. Efficient workflows and well-structured functionality enable users to learn quickly and save time compared to using traditional methods.

Clash Detection
With improved Clash Detection, users are able to perform automated collision detection directly with point cloud data in AutoCAD® which does not require switching software platforms e.g. Autodesk Navisworks®. Users can easily verify if redesigning the planned construction project is needed, resulting in less rework and an accurate model.

Easy Management of Large 3D Scan Projects
As-Built for AutoCAD Software integrates seamlessly into the familiar AutoCAD user interface working with the native Autodesk point cloud engine (RCP/RCS). With an efficient data management system and an extended viewing option, scan navigation is simplified and provides an overview and full control of the project with a much clearer view of native point cloud data compared to native AutoCAD®.

Fast and Easy Extraction of 2D Plans and 3D Models
As-Built offers powerful tools for the fast construction of 2D plans. Best-fit line extraction paired with optional angular restrictions can be automatically fitted to point cloud slices. Commands for drawing and dimensioning of building elements ensure quick and easy analysis.

Intelligent Piping and Steel Models for Use in Plant Software and BIM
As-Built provides intuitive workflows for modelling piping systems and steel construction. Results of the automated but user controlled workflows are high accuracy models of pipe-runs and stacked steel, that satisfy design constraints of plant design software. Flange tie-in points can be determined precisely without modeling.

Analyzing Tools for Tolerance Checkup, Clash Detections and Volume Computation
Deviations of as-built CAD models with point cloud are visualized in configurable heatmaps, elevation plans or lists and used to verify the accuracy of modeling. Other analyzing tools include e. g. tank analysis, calculate masses and volumes.

Use Images and Photogrammetry Features in AutoCAD
Photogrammetric functions complement evaluation of data captured by laser scanners, drones or cameras and complement the evaluation with precise and straightforward data extraction from images. Detailed, true to scale image plans allow for drawing easily CAD sections and facade plans.

Combine Feature Data with CAD Objects and Structured Room Schedules
Room polygons and additional spatial information are managed in a clear and freely adaptable tree structure. The area data can be exported to text tables or directly to databases (for example to a CAFM system). The tool can be utilized for documenting damages and findings for heritage projects and building monitoring.

Connect a Total Station On-site to AutoCAD Software
Users draw complete floor plans, sections and elevations directly on-site or setup a closed-loop traverse and 3D network, which is later used as framework for the positioning of laser scans. With automated total stations users can stake out references from the design into reality.

FARO As-Built for Autodesk Revit provides quick and intuitive workflows for processing 3D laser scan data directly into Autodesk Revit using Revit objects and BIM models. It is the perfect complement for Revit® users working with large point clouds and integrates seamlessly with the familiar Autodesk Revit user interface. It features a wide range of evaluation tools for 3D laser scan data with customized commands for modeling and detailing BIM elements.

Retain the Overview, Guaranteed
FARO As-Built extends Revit with numerous functions for displaying, navigating and intuitively managing point clouds. Point clouds can be clipped and sections can be arranged hierarchically. The unique combination with As-Built Modeler allows the evaluation of point clouds in Planar, Quick and 3D Views directly in Autodesk® Revit® and in the family editor. The workflow guarantees comfortable modelling and fast, precise results.

Collision Detection in the BIM Model
With improved Clash Detection, users perform automated collision detection directly with point cloud data in Revit. They easily verify if redesigning the planned construction project is needed. There is no need to switch to software platforms such as Autodesk Navisworks.

Create 3D Models Directly in Autodesk Revit Point Clouds
The FARO As-Built for Autodesk Revit plug-in features a wide range of 3D construction aids. Within the application, users can create 3D model lines and construction points using real 3D point snap in the point cloud, independently of Autodesk Revit work planes. They intersect model planes and thus create accurate intersection lines and intersection points as well as create fitted work planes directly in the point clouds.

Save Time and Money with Automated Functionality
Create walls, pipes and structural elements like beams and columns very quickly and precisely. The wall types for different wall thicknesses are defined automatically and the Wall Alignment Tool globally aligns, corrects and fixes extracted walls segments throughout the entire model. Additional functions include the automatic creation of deformed floor slabs based on floor irregularities as well as the creation of a ground surface (topo surface). Functions for modelling pipe runs from scan data enhance Autodesk Revit’s abilities for capturing as-builts.

Compare the Model with Reality
Surface analysis enables the comparison between the point cloud and the Autodesk Revit model. The results can be exported as profile lines or to databases. Create complex ground surface models from the profile lines along with complex model components. Control the quality of the construction by comparing model and as-built or document the quality of your modelling and the adherence to given Level of Detail standards from USIBD.

Work with Laser Scanner Data Directly in the Family Editor
FARO As-Built enables 3D laser scanner data to be used directly in the Autodesk Revit Family Editor. Creating object specific families for doors, windows, columns or pipe accessories is simple and easy using point cloud regions, planar scan views and true ortho-photos.
